“My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior – from violent people you save me.” (2 Samuel 22:3)

Today’s image brings us to a momentous site in both Jewish and Christian heritage—the cave where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. These ancient texts, which persevered through more than twenty centuries before being found in 1947, represent the oldest and most extensive collection of biblical manuscripts and documents from the time of Jesus of Nazareth. Like the scrolls that found refuge in these caves for two millennia, let us also find our refuge in God.

Lord, we pray that You will be a stronghold and savior for the Jewish nation in these crucial times, as You have faithfully promised. Amen.
